Who says real men don’t spend hours being pampered?
Not only are men spending lots more hours getting buffed to perfection, they’re talking about it too. all woman paid a recent visit to Totally Male Spa in New Kingston where men are catered to by women, and saw for ourselves just how seriously our guys are taking the whole grooming game.
NCB Oxford Place bank manager Glen Shields was enjoying a manicure and pedicure and explained to all woman that, “It’s something I do every three weeks.”
A haircut is also added to the spa menu.
Rubber Plantation owner Bill Morris, who incidentally is from Liberia (his wife, Margaret, works with USAID and is based in Jamaica), assured all woman that he was merely continuing what is considered the norm in his homeland.
“I do the works: manicure, pedicure, a facial, a massage, haircut, shave and shampoo twice per month.” Morris went on to add that he’s “100 per cent male and proud to take care of myself.”
Truck company owner Leroy McCalla, who comes in for his monthly full treatment has a single regret – that he can’t do it more often. “Look at me,” he demands. “Taking care of myself allows me at 51 to feel like 26.”
Totally Male owner Sandra Samuels has, in the 13 years of her company’s existence, seen an increase in men wanting full spa services. “Today’s male,” she explains, “fully understands the importance of being groomed. Packaging is taken very seriously and with the increasingly competitive work environment, many really have no choice but to get with it if they wish to stay in the race.”
Indeed. So come on, guys. Looking drab is infra dig. Grooming must now be placed at the top of your must-do list. Ladies are no longer asking quietly – we’re demanding that men look their best and put their best foot forward at all times.
And guess what, guys? We’re not the only ones, the boss is watching you too.
