TECNO could show off its tri-fold smartphone at MWC 2025

Following the launch of the Huawei Mate XT last year, it seems that more companies are eager to hop on board the tri-fold bandwagon. This year at MWC, TECNO could finally show off a prototype of its tri-fold smartphone that the company teased back in 2024. However, when exactly it will launch is still up in the air.

Galaxy S25 Ultra deal

The company has teased a bunch of products and services that they will be showing off at MWC 2025. This includes new AI tools and features, advancements in its mobile imaging software, and a potential teaser for its ultra-thin Phantom Ultimate 2 tri-fold handset.

TECNO is definitely no stranger to the foldable space. The company has launched a book-style foldable and a clamshell foldable in the past, so moving to a tri-fold device feels like par for the course. However, note that this is only a prototype so it is unclear if at the end of the day, TECNO will move forward with production.

So far, Huawei is the only handset maker with a tri-fold smartphone. We have heard rumors that Samsung is planning a similar device themselves which could debut alongside the Fold and Flip 7 series later this year. That being said, these tri-fold smartphones aren’t designed for the masses.

Foldable phones are already pretty expensive, so imagine a phone with a triple foldable display. That would cost even more. If anything, these devices feel more like a way for tech companies to show what they can do. Either way, MWC 2025 is kicking off next month so we should have all the details soon enough.
