Well, for our friends across the border in Pakistan, it’s leaning toward the latter as they continue to cook up wild theories to digest the ‘reality’ that their arch-rivals are dominating in the tournament like champions while their own team is stuck in the doldrums. And the fun truly began after India notched up their eighth victory in the World Cup by easily defeating South Africa on Sunday.

It all happened when a Pakistani cricket fan with the username Farhan Blouch on Facebook, came up with the ultimate pitch theory that’s bound to make you roll on the floor with laughter. He noted, “There is something wrong. Jab India batting krti ha pitch perfect batting paradise lagti ha or jab India bowling Karti ha toh same wohi pitch Perth Jesi ban jati ha. South Africa ki itni achi batting line India ke saamne aik dam se itni buri kesi ban gye ke 100 bhi cross na kar sake. There is something seriously wrong. (There is something wrong. When India is batting, the pitch seems like a perfect batting paradise, but when India is bowling, the same pitch transforms into something akin to Perth. South Africa’s strong batting lineup suddenly crumbled in front of India, failing to even cross 100 runs. There is something seriously wrong)"

As comical as it sounds, Indians wasted no time in seizing the opportunity to respond with a barrage of tongue-in-cheek comments, flooding the social media comment section with their own brand of wit.

One cheeky commenter went all-in, suggesting, “Brother we’ve the best technology and science, during the lightshow when there is totally dark, the management changes the whole pitch that is set on a platform and hidden. Ek button dabate hi, andar se naya pitch ghum ke bahar aata hai aur pehle wala andar chala jata hai." Similar hilarious comments flooded the platform, as others shared their own humourous take on the conspiracy.

Over on the micro-blogging site ‘X,’ users couldn’t resist joining the jest, sharing hilarious videos from various sources that depicted everything, even the pitch itself, undergoing rapid changes, all in good humour.

All of this playful banter happened after a bombshell dropped by former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza, who alleged that the ICC or the BCCI had a hand in providing special balls to a select group of Indian bowlers.

Raza’s assertion went like this, “It seems like the ball gets changed in the second innings. I think the ICC, umpire or the BCCI is giving a different ball to the Indian bowlers. The side batting first scored 350 and were all over the chasing team. The way Mohammed Shami bowled his first ball, even Angelo Matthews was stunned. During our playing days, there was only one ball which was utilised, and had both swing and reverse swing," the 41-year-old had said.
